Beverly Sanborn is the Vice President of Program Development for Belmont Village Senior Living. Beverly is a licensed clinical social worker and gerontologist. She is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley with a Masters in Social Work from UCLA. She has more than two decades of experience designing and managing older adult services. Beverly has held administrative, training, consultation and program director roles within the whole spectrum of gerontology: including adult day care, day health, skilled nursing, assisted living, home companion care, and senior centers. She has also been a part-time instructor in Gerontology at San Diego State University. She co-authored with Bill Keane the S.E.L.F. training program and five training video tapes for advanced Alzheimer’s Care for Mather Lifeways, and she has authored or co-authored books and papers on the subject of Alzheimer's care.
Beverly regularly gives lectures and workshops throughout the United States, and is a nationally recognized and sought-after expert in dementia care. In 2012, she was invited to participate in an invitation-only national symposium in Washington, D.C., made up of a diverse group of multi-sector dementia experts whose goal was to form consensus recommendations for non-pharmacologic dementia care practices. In 2016, Beverly was selected to join a panel of experts to discuss the improvements in dementia care practice at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference, the world’s largest forum for the dementia research community. She has presented papers at international conferences in Mexico and Argentina as well.
At Belmont Village Senior Living, Beverly has led the design and implementation team for the MBA Club for Mind/Body/Awareness to maintain mental fitness. She played a key role in design and implementation of Belmont’s award-winning Circle of Friends® program for residents with Mild Cognitive Impairment. She has designed the activity-based-care program for the secured perimeter dementia Neighborhood, and she has designed and conducted the Belmont Dementia Training program and the Train-the-Trainer component, including the production of a series of proprietary training videos currently in use at Belmont Village around the country.
