Bruce A. James is the Associate Chief Information Security Officer for Intermountain Healthcare, an integrated delivery network (IDN) based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Bruce is responsible for Information Security at Intermountain Healthcare, including strategic operations of a group of security teams and functions and for the planning, executing, evaluation, and implementation of enterprise I.S. systems and associated security functions. Intermountain Healthcare has long been considered a leader in information security. Bruce continues to expand and enhance Intermountain’s leadership position by working with business teams, partners and vendors to ensure that new and existing systems, ideas and innovations comply with regulatory and internal security policies.

Bruce has been involved with Information Technology for the past 23 years. Prior to Intermountain Healthcare, Bruce was the Chief Information Security Officer for a Financial Services Technology organization and Lead Software Engineer for an ERP vendor. Bruce has a passion for improving information assurance through continuous improvement of tools, processes and technologies.

Bruce is CISSP, CISSP-ISSAP, CISSP-ISSMP, C|EH, CISM and ITIL certified

Bruce is a resident of Utah. Prior to living in Utah, he lived in Tennessee and California. He is married with three children. Bruce received a BS Computer Science from the University of Utah, and MS Information Assurance from Norwich University.
