Joy Grosser began serving as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) for UW Medicine on November 1, 2017. She is known for making information technology a powerful tool to support patient care and care teams. As she puts it, "IT should always be present to enhance the patient experience" as part of the overall care delivery system.
Joy has more than 20 years of senior leadership in information technology. Prior to joining UW Medicine she was CIO of University Hospitals in Cleveland - an integrated network of 18 hospitals, more than 40 outpatient health centers and 200 physician offices in 15 counties throughout northern Ohio. The system includes University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, which is affiliated with the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
In previous positions, Joy developed and implemented IT strategic plans for several large healthcare systems, including as Vice President and CIO at UnityPoint Health in West Des Moines, Iowa, and as CIO for the University of California Irvine Health System in Orange, California.
