Suleima Salgado, MBA is the Director of Telehealth & Telemedicine for the Georgia Department of Public Health where she is responsible for setting the Department’s strategic goals to increase access to care for Georgians. She manages day to day operations and works with statewide stakeholders to coordinate, promote, and execute telehealth projects across Georgia and has oversight of budgets and grants.

Her experience in expanding Telemedicine includes public health program specialty clinics and county health departments. This statewide collaboration has led to tremendous rate of success. With strong community partnerships, this allows for a wide range of access to available specialist and healthcare providers.

Prior to this role, Suleima served as the Deputy Director of Communications for the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH). In this role, Ms. Salgado assisted the Director to oversee all aspects of internal and external communications for the Department and its programs and divisions. The division managed all marketing and communications plans media relations, and vendors while guiding communicators in Georgia’s 18 public health districts. Before making the move to Georgia, Suleima worked for the Polk County Health Department in Florida as Public Information Officer and Risk Communicator. In this position she created and delivered curriculum to Public Information Officers including Basic and Intermediate Crisis Communications training, spokesperson training, and on-camera training.

Prior to making the switch to focus on public health, Ms. Salgado worked for Polk County Government Television where she directed and edited various educational television programs reaching 600,000 citizens in Polk County.

Mrs. Salgado holds an Associates of Arts in Mass Communications from Polk Community College in Winter Haven, Florida, a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Communications with a minor in Spanish from Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida and a Master of Business Administration from Southeastern University. She has completed numerous FEMA Incident Management courses on emergency preparedness and response topics, and has received training in Emergency and Risk Communications.
