Scott Samways is the Director of Data Integration for Beth Israel Deaconess Care Organization (BIDCO), a value-based physician and hospital network, including more than 2,500 physicians and eight hospitals, and Accountable Care Organization (ACO) in Westwood, Massachusetts.
Scott brings deep experience, insight, and value to the development, integration, and implementation of large-scale health care information systems. Technically astute and results driven, he has a proven record of imploring solutions-design strategies, system optimization and data integrity efforts, and business process enhancements.
At BIDCO, Scott works directly with the Chief Information Officer and other senior executives, providing leadership and strategy for optimizing innovative technology solutions designed to support quality and performance improvement programs. Scott played an integral role defining the strategy of and managing daily operations for the design, implementation, and integration of BIDCO’s data analytics platform that will bring together claims and scheduling data in near real-time to offer physicians and hospitals the data they need to identify the need for targeted interventions and new programs to improve health outcomes. Scott first joined BIDCO as Manager of EHR Optimization, where he deployed innovative quality improvement efforts that resulted in the organization ranking as the top-performing ACO in quality reporting in 2015.
Prior to joining BIDCO, Scott served as Director of Ambulatory Information Systems for Steward Health Care. Over the course of seven years he successfully oversaw the implementation of EHRs and practice management systems for 700 providers in nearly 200 practices. In addition, he led the development of standardized clinical content within the EHRs to meet Meaningful Use requirements, which were in the early stages of release at the time.
Scott’s ground-level experience with the digitization of health records and interoperability efforts has qualified him to present at numerous board meetings and industry events, including the Athena IT Solutions and eClinical Works annual and regional conferences. He has also written articles and shared best practices on business process design, data validation, financial forecasting, and performance metrics documentation and analysis.
