The concept of wireless roadside inspections (WRI) for commercial motor vehicles has been explored for over a decade. And it may now be getting closer to fruition. WRI is envisioned as “a system of systems,” both public and private, for the collection, capture, and assessment of significant quantities of information on carriers, drivers, and equipment. While the federal government moves forward, there is very little discussion about the data that carriers are giving up.
