Valerie is a globally recognized and trusted industry expert on the matters of IT network applications and balanced twisted-pair copper and optical fiber telecommunications cabling specification, design, and transmission theory. She retired from Siemon in 2022 but continues to engage in IEEE 802.3 Ethernet development activities and support the industry through various consulting initiatives.

Most recently, Valerie collaborated with the TIA FOTC to develop the Standards Explorer - a free online database that serves as a resource for anyone who wants to learn more about multimode and single-mode media, infrastructure, and application standards. The resource currently contains a complete library of IEEE 802.3 single-mode and multimode applications. A compilation of TIA Standards will be added to the database by year-end.
