Dr. Jones was named President and Chief Executive Officer of the Care Alliance Health Center in August of 2019. Most recently, he served as Chief Medical Officer of Care Alliance and will retain that title. In this new role, he will provide executive oversight and leadership to ensure the Health Center has a long term strategy to achieve its mission and financial objectives. Dr. Jones’s current interests include developing strategic focus in social determinants of health and health equity, strengthening public-private partnerships, increased connection between public health and clinical medicine, and implementing an outcomes-driven approach to program policy and development. Formerly, he held the position of Senior Vice President/Chief Medical Officer for Jessie Trice Community Health Centers in Miami.
Prior to his role in Miami, Dr. Jones held the position of Medical Executive Director of the Lake and Putnam County Health Departments in Central Florida. In this position, Dr. Jones provided medical direction and executive oversight in the areas of primary care, maternal and child health, chronic disease, family planning, communicable diseases/epidemiology, immunizations, community health-planning, and environmental health.
Dr. Jones received his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University. He also earned a Master of Public Health and Master of Science in Law and Policy degree from Nova Southeastern University as well. Dr. Jones completed a combined internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Columbia Hospital. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Healthcare Quality and is fellowship trained in Addiction Medicine.
Dr. Jones completed a year-long Health Policy Fellowship in Washington, D.C., with research focus on alternative payment methods for medical providers and enhancing various payment models. His other academic interests include racial and ethnic disparities in health outcomes, improving access to care for the uninsured and underinsured through population health management, policy and health services research.
Dr. Jones has continued his commitment to public health, as evidenced with his appointment by the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services to the National Advisory Council for the National Health Service Corp. He was also appointed by the Florida Surgeon General to the Environmental Health Professionals Advisory Board. He currently serves on the Board of Governors for Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine and has served on several Florida and Ohio state committees including the BOD for the Ohio Association of Community Health Centers, BOD for the Mental Health and Addiction Advocacy Coalition and the Cleveland American Heart Association.
Smart Business Maganize 2020 recently recognized Dr. Jones as one of NE Ohio’s Smart 50 Top Executives and was awarded the Tri-C Community Champion Award. Other awards include South Florida’s Most Powerful and Influential Professionals in Business and Industry in 2015, and one of South Florida’s Medical Leaders in 2014.
