Name
B11 - The Executive's Guide for Navigating Changes to Government Opioid Policies
Date & Time
Sunday, August 20, 2017, 8:15 AM - 9:45 AM
Andrew Kessler
Description
Congress saw the introduction of over 60 pieces of legislation aimed at curbing the opioid epidemic. With the passage of the Comprehensive Addiction Recovery Act, we now have a foundation for moving forward, in hopes of expanding federal involvement in prevention, treatment, and recovery services. Yet resources remain scarce, and without funding, many new programs cannot become a reality. This session will look at the bigger picture, and how advocacy strategies will be necessary to succeed.

Upon completion of this session, attendees will be able to:
  • Comprehend the timing behind the current push in congress for opioid treatment
  • Comprehend the difficult fiscal environment in Washington
  • Develop advocacy strategies for the future
