Description
By the middle of the century, 1 in 5 Americans will be a senior citizen. More importantly, this population of aging Americans is experiencing upward trends in substance use disorders, chronic pain, grief and loss. The greying of baby boomers and the increased use in alcohol and other drugs among this group are merging together and creating one of the fastest growing problems in our country. This interactive session will look at these trends as well as best practices for treating seniors and their families. The collaboration of services necessary for effective physical and mental health and substance use disorder treatment will be discussed.
