This workshop will outline the importance of integrating a trauma informed approach and trauma informed care to address trauma, co-occurring disorders and addiction. Research will be used to explain how exposure to adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) can have far reaching impacts in the treatment of clients who struggle with substance use and co-occurring disorders. This workshop will discuss the importance of the trauma informed approach, and explain the difference between trauma informed care and trauma informed approach.
