Prescription Drug and Opioid Abuse
Description
With inpatient hospitalizations involving opioid dependent individuals the highest in the nation per capita and the nation’s highest per capita rates of hepatitis C, Oregon has many challenges. Also, with one of the lowest rates of accessibility to office/residential medication assisted treatment, and large rural and frontier areas with little or no access to services, multiple challenges exist in the state in developing a modern system of care to address the opioid epidemic. In this session, attendees will learn about the opioid crisis in Oregon and how data is being used to advance solutions. Other efforts include collaboration with public health officials and other stakeholders, while leveraging federal policy and funding sources. Oregon Health Authority addictions treatment staff are helping to develop the foundation for a sustainable evidence-based system of care for opioid dependent Oregonians.
