Description
The college and university environment poses unique challenges for students at risk for developing substance use disorders and those recovering from addictive disorders. The substance-oriented culture on many university campuses suggests that the college environment is not conducive to prevention and recovery. Collegiate recovery programs (CRPs) are beginning to change this perception and fill a longstanding need for recovery support. CRPs are part of a continuum of care that supports long-term recovery. The presenters will share some of the research-based services implemented on their campuses as well as at other CRPs across the country and will discuss ways to promote the attainment of higher education for clients in treatment and recovery.
