Description
As addiction professionals, we have an ethical responsibility to maintain our own wellness and to share our responsibility to protect the community. What can be challenging is a situation involving questionable behavior exhibited by a colleague. What actions need to be taken, and does every situation require reporting? Boundary violations, dual and sexual relationships with clients can cause harm, and yet it’s difficult to determine if a violation has occurred. Many times, violations are reconsidered in hindsight. This presentation will give an overview of ethics and the professional standards and licensing regulations established by disciplines and states. The session will review several different case studies of ethical violations. The focus will be on individual responsibility.
