Leading community organizations agree that a public health and treatment response offer the best way out from the crippling effects of the opioid crisis. Life-saving naloxone is an essential first step, but engaging individuals into continuing care requires an even stronger effort. This panel session will identify implementable strategies to move beyond the cycle of overdose and rescue. With law enforcement and treatment leaders now sharing a common vision, the opportunity never has been greater for engaging those with addiction at a pivotal time. The session will discuss how to bring in the other key partners whose role is critical to success, including medical professionals and community groups.

Upon completion of this session, participants will be able to:
  • Identify the key timepoints and locations for engaging opioid-dependent individuals into treatment.
  • Cite the community partners that are essential to closing the revolving door of overdose.
  • List the clinical and operational strategies that can move individuals on a path to recovery.
