Chani A. Cordero is the CIO for Brooke Army Medical Center, a 425-bed medical center and the DoD only Level 1 Trauma and world renowned Burn Center. Provides information management and technology support for over 9,000 employees across 70 medical facilities. She has executive and technical responsibility for information management support of all clinical and administrative functions.
Chani entered the Army in 2000 as a Second Lieutenant. Throughout her career as a Medical Service Corps Officer in the US Army, she has served in various leadership positions. Chani has worked in operational and healthcare delivery roles in executive management including four previous roles as a leader in Technology. She has served as a Chief Information Officer, Human Resources Director, and as Managed Care and Payer Operations Director. She deployed to Iraq and conducted health care operations during the initial campaign. Chani serves as the Health Services Systems Managers Consultant to the U.S. Army Surgeon General LTG R. Scott Dingle as the expert in Health Information Technology.
Chani is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), a Fellow in the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (FCHIME), and a Fellow in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (FHIMSS). She received her Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from St. Mary’s University, holds a Master of Education in Instructional Technology from Troy University along with a Master of Healthcare Administration from Baylor University.
Chani Cordero is on the advisory board for Texas State University San Marcos for the Health Information Management program as well as the advisory board for American Public University for the Health Administration program.
