Dr. David Danhauer has been a practicing pediatrician and the managing partner of an eight physician group for 27 years prior to becoming the CMIO at Owensboro Health. He gained valuable leadership skills as chairman of many physician committees and as a hospital board member. As CMIO at Owensboro Health for the last 8 years he has overseen the implementation of an Enterprise EHR in the Ambulatory and Inpatient setting. He helped in the design, building and Go-live of a new $500 million, 450 bed regional hospital. Working with administration and providers, he helped support the growth of an Ambulatory group to 180 providers in 30 locations. He leads a Clinical Informatics Team to help his fellow providers in the region in being productive, high quality providers. At the state level, he is a member of the Clinical Advisory group for the KY Health Information Exchange (KHIE) and a member of the state Telehealth Steering Committee. He facilitates a monthly regional, virtual CMIO Roundtable to improve the communication and standardization of care across the Bluegrass Region. He is active in HIMSS and is the past Chairman of the HIMSS North America Physician Committee, which has given him national exposure to further the goals of patient engagement in health care, improved quality and safety, and improved physician satisfaction. Recently, he was awarded Fellow status with HIMSS. He enjoys presenting on a number of topics in HIT at regional and national venues.
