Powerplant costs at 33.5% in 2023 Q4 still accounted for the highest percentage of all costs although they were down from 35.1% in 2023 Q3. Exhaust System costs, the second highest, rose from 14% to 15% between the two quarters. Rounding out the top five quarterly costs were Cooling System, Brakes, and Cab and Sheet Metal. Between 2023 Q3 and 2023 Q4 combined parts and labor cost increases were recorded for Cab and Sheet Metal, Aerodynamic Devices, Wheels, Rims, Hubs, and Bearings, Axle Driven-Rear, and Filter Kits. The largest decreases were for Tires, Steering, Cooling, Driveshafts, and Fuel System. The Decisiv Commercial Vehicle Service Analysis Report for Q4 2023 is now available here: https://lnkd.in/eKhdZMVm The latest report shows combined parts and labor costs across 25 VMRS System Codes dropped 1.4%, reversing the upward trend in Q3 where costs rose 2.1%. The decrease, driven largely by parts costs that dropped 2.2%, is good news for fleets and service providers and may indicate that inflationary pressures on parts pricing are easing as supply chains return to normal levels and more new trucks are placed in service. #Decisiv #SRM #trucking

The Decisiv Commercial Vehicle Service Analysis Report showcases costs across four U.S. regions and Canada. In 2023 Q3, the highest combined costs by region were unchanged from Q2, starting in the West followed by the South, Northeast, Midwest, and Canada. Higher costs in some regions may be the result of higher parts costs due to continuing inflationary pressures and labor costs driven up by the ongoing technician shortage affecting dealers and fleets. The most likely contributor to rising service activity in 2023 Q3 is the slower than expected arrival of new trucks that has kept older equipment in service, a factor that will likely diminish over time. Overall, in the past two quarters the change averaged less than one percent following a 9.6% rise in service transactions in 2023 Q1. Q3 2023 transaction activity data in the Decisiv Commercial Vehicle Service Analysis Report is based on a total of 1,016,929 service transactions in the Decisiv SRM platform.
