Jeff Coughlin

Jeff Coughlin is an Assistant Director, Federal Affairs, at the American Medical Association. He focuses his public policy efforts on representing physicians in the health IT field, including interoperability, privacy, and cybersecurity. Jeff came to AMA from HIMSS, where he served as Vice President, Government Relations. In this position, he led HIMSS’s efforts to build stronger relationships with federal agencies and facilitated the building of a nationwide network of advocates for state-based initiatives. Before joining HIMSS, Jeff was the team leader for corporate accounts at the Marwood Group, where he worked with non-profit health systems, health IT vendors, professional societies, and trade associations. He holds a BA in Political Science from Providence College, and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from the College of William & Mary.
