Wilhelm Kaenders co-founded TOPTICA Photonics AG in 1998, one of the leading European high-tech laser and photonics company, headquartered in Gräfelfing near Munich, Germany and with offices in Rochester, NY and San Jose, CA in the US.
Being infected by cold atom physics as a PhD student at the Institute of Quantum Optics in Hannover, and being part of the technology of professor Hänsch's group at the Max-Planck-Institute in Garching, Toptica started with tunable diode laser technology and has become a leader in high performance "Frequency Division” and "Frequency Combing".
