Speaker Bio
Tyler Kilde is the President and General Manager of MLGC, a family-owned telecommunication company serving Rural Eastern North Dakota.
Tyler has spent the past 32 years in telecommunications. Starting at the age of 19, working and eventually managing and owning a Motorola Service Station in Fargo, ND. During this adventure, some highlights include selling and maintaining one of the first mobile data systems in the state of North Dakota and implementing cost-saving measures that saved the Grand Forks Airforce Base more than $250,000 in their first five years.
In 2002, Tyler moved from the wireless side of the business to wireline, where he started as assistant manager of Moore & Liberty Telephone Co and Griggs County Telephone Co, both owned by the Brown Family since 1906.
In 2009, he saw the light and led both organizations to a complete fiber-to-the-home transformation. Both companies spent the next five years converting to a Calix GPON based solution. In 2012, Moore and Liberty and Griggs County merged to create MLGC.
To maintain the best and fastest service, MLGC added 10G XGS-PON to 6 of its exchanges in 2019. When the 2020 pandemic hit, MLGC doubled everyone’s speed leveraging the 10GPON abilities, moving 1G customers to over 2G. In December of 2020, MLGC introduced 5G services, preparing for what will come next.
