The devastation from the global COVID-19 pandemic may thankfully be waning, but the lessons health systems learned from two years of keeping patients safe are likely to have a profound impact on the way we deliver health care in decades to come. No evolution, perhaps, is more promising than the rapid growth of home-based care models, which deliver first-rate care to patients in the comfort of their own living rooms while increasing efficiency, reducing costs, and removing many of the inconveniences and hurdles long associated with a trip to the doctor's office. In this lively and informative presentation, Rachit Thariani, chief administrative officer for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Post-Acute and Home-Based Care Division, joins Healthcare Innovation Editor-in-Chief Mark Haglund to share more about this health system transformation trend.

As the organized cybercrime ecosystem continues to evolve, the combination of motive, means, and opportunity—plus easy access to already-developed tools to execute attacks—has led cybercriminals to relentlessly target HDOs. This has resulted in an ever-increasing volume of attacks and a range of costly consequences, including the disruption of critical patient care.
In the event of a security breach, you need an Incident Response (IR) partner that can react with industry-leading speed and efficacy. Without the support of 24/7 data backups and a team of IR experts, healthcare institutions are likely to pay the extortion or ransomware demands to avoid massive operational disruption.
Join eSentire’s John Irvine, VP, Digital Forensics for a discussion on the most common attack vectors for healthcare, the importance of adopting a risk-based approach towards cybersecurity, and how eSentire brings rapid control and stability to your organization when a breach occurs.

Pioneering patient care organizations are moving ahead to develop strategies to integrate the social determinants of health (SDOH) into their population health management initiatives. A panel of experts will discuss the complexities, challenges, and opportunities in moving forward in this leading-edge area of activity.

Patrick McGill, M.D., the Chief Transformation Officer at the seven-hospital Community Health Network, based in Indianapolis, has been helping to lead his colleagues on a highly successful journey into value-based care delivery and contracting, succeeding in the rigorous Next Generation ACO program (now transitioned to the Medicare Shared Savings Program), and in several major value-based contracts with private payers, all of them involving two-sided risk. What’s Community Health Network’s secret of success? Dr. McGill will share his perspectives on what he and his colleagues have learned so far on what the critical success factors are in this absolutely key area of activity in U.S. healthcare.

What does it mean to create community-wide partnerships to enhance the health of entire communities? Leaders in Cleveland are evolving forward just one such partnership, the Cleveland Innovation District. The Cleveland Innovation District involves partnership between and among JobsOhio, the Ohio Department of Development, Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, The MetroHealth System, Case Western Reserve University, and Cleveland State University, encompassing work that is creating a center of excellence that acts as a catalyst for ongoing investment in Northeast Ohio, including attracting and creating new businesses and talent needed to ensure the state is a leader in the healthcare and IT sectors. Included in that work are increases in investment in biomedical research with commercial promise; the creation of new research, education, IT, and supply chain jobs; targeted increases in enrollment in STEM education; and the development of technologies to enhance support for cancer research.

Join panelists Michael Goldberg, Executive Director, Veale Institute for Entrepreneurship and Associate Professor of Design and Innovation at the Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University; James Merlino, M.D., Chief Clinical Transformation Officer at Cleveland Clinic; Joanne Belovich, Ph.D., Professor, Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at Cleveland State University; Brook Watts, MD, Senior Vice President – Chief Quality and Safety Officer and Chief Medical Officer, Community and Public Health at The MetroHealth System; and David Sylvan, President,  University Hospitals Ventures, for this important discussion.
