Description

For industries that operate in diverse and oftentimes harsh environments, temperature frequently poses a challenge. Computers must be able to withstand extreme operating temperatures in locations where external thermal conditions cannot be controlled. As a result, engineers must design – and test – rigorous thermal solutions, employing simulation, structural conception, component selection and circuit placement.

Equally important, though often overlooked, is the need to design for tolerance to power disturbances. Unexpected outages, brownouts, voltage spikes and wide voltage ranges have the potential to negatively impact the success of critical applications.

In this Tech Summit session Jeff Baldwin, Director of Engineering for Sealevel Systems, Inc., will share strategies for addressing these extremes, and others, based on his experience in designing over 60 industrial computing solutions.
