William A. (Bill) Burns currently serves as the global practice leader for Health & Life Sciences at Veeam and is directly responsible for the oversight and coordination of all Health & Life Sciences industry related activities for the company. Additionally, Bill has direct and daily management responsibility for working with Veeam’s partnerships, alliances and industry activities with a focus on data protection and IT operations in the areas of enterprise imaging, Healthcare financial management, drug discovery, care delivery management and population health management that reduce healthcare costs, improve healthcare quality, and increasepatient access to Healthcare information.
Throughout his 31-year career in Healthcare Bill has developed a wealth of experience serving with, and leading today’s most advanced national and international Healthcare organizations. Bill served as an executive advisor and vice-chairman on Healthcare data modernization with the Department of Health & Human Services (USA) to two presidential administrations. Bill also served as a founding committee member of the Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) published by the Health Level Seven International (HL7) Healthcare standards organization.
Bill has extensive experience in the digital healthcare arena, including point-of-care disease management systems, diagnostic imaging, ambulatory patient monitoring, clinical research platforms, and regulatory compliance. He has proven instrumental in setting the leadership foundation in the development of technology-enhanced clinical and business initiatives for Veeam clients.
Bill has served on the Healthcare advisory boards of Microsoft, 3M, McKesson Corporation, The American Red Cross and Gillette Children’s Hospital. He is a lifelong member of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the American Management Association. He is also a featured speaker at several national and international forums on the topics of healthcare strategy and digital transformation.
Prior to joining the Veeam team Bill served as President, Innovation and Informatics Division, Hitachi Healthcare Americas, as well as its Chief Strategy officer where he had responsibility for the company’s worldwide go-to-market strategies and sales & delivery operations for Healthcare markets.
