Lory earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Idaho State University and her MS degree in Dental Hygiene from UCSF. She practiced clinically for 24 years and is currently an Associate Professor and Dental Hygiene Program Director at University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco. Lory was a columnist for RDH Magazine from 2005 -2017 and authored articles published in the California Dental Hygienists’ Association Journal, Journal of Dental Hygiene, Journal of Dental Education and the American Journal of Infection Control. She is a national and international speaker and dental continuing education provider on topics of instrumentation, inflammatory diseases, insulin resistance, abuse and PTSD . Lory received the 2011 Idaho State University Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award and the 2015 Sunstar America Award of Distinction. She is a co-author of Newman and Carranza’s Clinical Periodontology for the Dental Hygienist, published by Elsevier, Inc. Lory is a member and past president of the California Dental Hygienists’ Association and an active member of the American Dental Educators Association.
