Christel Autuori , who began her dental career as a chairside dental assistant, is a graduate of Forsyth School for Dental Hygienists and the University of Bridgeport. She holds a Masters degree in Integrative Health and Healing and is a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach, trained at Duke Integrative Medicine in Durham, North Carolina. Christel is a registered yoga teacher, a certified AcuYoga instructor, a certified Holistic Stress Management Instructor, and certified Lifestyle medicine coach . She holds active dental hygiene licenses in Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts. Christel was one of the ten research hygienists in the Forsyth Project Rotunda at the Forsyth Dental Center from 1972 through 1974. In addition to a long career as a clinical dental hygienist, she is a former faculty member of the Fones School of Dental Hygiene and former visiting faculty member at The Graduate Institute in Bethany, CT. She is adjunct faculty member and the director of the Institute for Holistic Health Studies at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, CT and is the founder and owner of Integrative Health of Connecticut, LLC.
Christel has presented lectures and workshops to a variety of audiences, including dental professionals, athletes, health care workers, and has authored articles and been interviewed in major professional journals. Christel teaches yoga and maintains a private health coaching and stress management practice in Ridgefield, CT. Christel is an active volunteer with the Connecticut Mission of Mercy (CTMOM) and has developed and implemented programs of dental and community health education in rural Honduras with the humanitarian organization, Cape CARES.
Christel is the recipient of the 2008 Dr. Esther M. Wilkins Distinguished Alumna Award and the 2011 Sunstar RDH Award of Distinction. Christel received the 2021 DistinguishedService Award at Western Connecticut State University. She is a member of Sigma Phi Alpha, the national honor sorority for dental hygienists. Christel is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dental Hygiene, and is a member of the American Dental Hygienists Association. She is a member of Kripalu Yoga Teachers Association, the International Association of Yoga Therapists, the American Academy of Oral and Systemic Health, the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine, and the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. Christel is a founding member of the Global Integrative Health Coaching Alliance.
