J. Edward Maddela serves as chief of the health informatics department for a 285-bed medical center within a large integrated health care system located in Southern Arizona. Dr. Maddela is also the hospital’s champion for high reliability and electronic health record modernization.
Prior to his current roles, Dr. Maddela practiced outpatient family medicine for a federally qualified health center in Central Arizona while also serving on the board of directors for its charitable foundation and teaching at the University of Arizona, College of Medicine prior to completing an ACGME-accredited Clinical Informatics Fellowship.
In addition to his clinical and academic responsibilities, Dr. Maddela’s community service in Arizona was honored by receiving the City of Tempe’s Martin Luther King Jr. Diversity Award. He was also recognized as one of Phoenix Business Journal’s 40 Under 40.
Dr. Maddela is double board certified through the American Board of Family Medicine and the American Board of Preventive Medicine. He maintains faculty appointment for both specialties for the University of Arizona. Dr. Maddela is an active member with both the American Medical Informatics Association and the American College of Healthcare Executives.
