Stacey Schmiedecke serves as the Chief Medical Informatics Officer (CMIO)
for the largest medical facility in the Department of Defense. In this role
she maintains responsibility for governance, training and sustainment of a
single-instance electronic health record (HER) for over 8,500 end-users.
With over 14 years of clinical and leadership experiences, she collaborates
with technical and functional leaders to continually champion the interests
of the providers with respect to health IT systems.

Dr. Schmiedecke attended medical school at the University of Florida in
Gainesville. She completed internship and residency at Naval Medical Center
San Diego, California. She completed her fellowship at Joint Base
Lewis-McChord, Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. She is
board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal
Medicine. She returned to San Diego in 2019 and serves as staff physician
and CMIO at the Naval Hospital. Not surprisingly, Dr. Schmiedecke is
passionate about women's health. She also serves as the San Diego market
lead for defense health's Women and Infant Clinical Community (WICC), where
she regularly collaborates with physician and nursing leaders to address
policy and implement evidence based guidelines focused on maternal and
neonatal safety during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period.
