Andrew Ziskind, MD, a nationally recognized leader of innovative health systems, serves as Senior Executive Officer (SEO) at Southwestern Health Resources (SWHR). As SEO, Ziskind is responsible for the leadership of the organization as it transforms healthcare delivery to focus on population health and improved outcomes. He oversees the healthcare needs of more than 900,000 individuals across 16 counties in North Texas through its 5,000-member physician network.
Ziskind improves network performance through a focus on patient-centered care, quality and performance improvement and patient-provider satisfaction. His deep understanding of the factors that enable high-quality healthcare, coupled with his ability to drive clinical and operational transformation, helps SWHR achieve better outcomes for patients and provide comprehensive support for physicians.
Before joining SWHR, Ziskind served as Senior Vice President at Premier, a leading healthcare improvement company serving more than 4,000 hospitals and health systems comprising 160,000 providers and organizations in the U.S. He also held Senior Executive roles at Huron Consulting Group and Accenture. Ziskind has served as Group President of BJC HealthCare, President of Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, and Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs at the University of Washington. Additionally, he helped establish the University of Maryland’s Cardiac Network – the first capitated network of its kind in the U.S. that provided comprehensive professional and facility care for 200,000 CareFirst members.
Ziskind completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease and a residency in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and earned his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. He also earned an MBA from Loyola University Maryland and a bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College.
