Burkhard Sommer is an Electrical Engineer, holding a degree from the University of Hanover in Germany (Master of Science in Electrical Engineering). Mr. Sommer has almost 17 years of experience in the offshore oil & gas industry in the areas of subsea control systems, all-electric systems and subsea production systems. He joined the industry in 2006 as a product design engineer at Cameron in Celle, Germany for subsea control modules, fiber optic systems and HIPPS. He also worked in Brazil, leading the Controls Engineering Team as the Engineering Supervisor and later as Engineering Product Manager. He is currently located in Houston, Texas, USA, where he worked from 2016 to 2019 as a Principal System Engineer and from 2019 until today as a Product Champion. Currently he is working for the Marketing & Technology department as Product Champion for All Electric & Controls, being responsible for managing OneSubsea’s All-Electric and Subsea Controls Product Portfolio.
