The distributed energy management system (DERMS) concept is has grown increasingly relevant as DERs proliferate across utility distribution networks. At a high level, DERMS is a software-based tool that allows utilities to manage DER on the network.
Session 1: NYPA’s AGILe lab is engaged in the development of a combined co-simulation platform of transmission and distribution systems in the presence of DER, with the eventual goal to develop a test bed for evaluating impact of DERs on both the transmission and distribution grid. George Stefopoulos, Director, Advanced Grid Innovation Lab for Energy (AGILe) at New York Power Authority, will discuss the current findings of this R&D project and how his team hopes to eventually integrate functions of DERMS and ADMS into the platform.
Session 2: Commonwealth Edison DERMS Demonstration (description coming soon!)
