Shawn has over 20 years of operational wildfire management experience combined with 15 years working in private sector with wildfire mitigation technologies. During his wildfire operations career in British Columbia, Canada, Shawn worked in many roles: wildland firefighting, helicopter rappel and rescue hoist operator, aerial firefighting operations, Incident Management Teams and Duty Officer as a Provincial Wildfire Protection Officer. Shawn served on the wildfire protection leadership team responsible for monitoring wildfire risk and suppression response in an area approximately twice the size of California State with essential emergency services confronting approximately 2,000 wildfires annually.

Shawn’s role at FTS is to help demonstrate the many successes of weather monitoring, automated observation, predictive services, and wildfire mitigation technology applications with land management agencies and the electric utility industry. Shawn recognizes that wildfire mitigation planning requires a common operating picture across utility areas of interests and is helping utility organizations understand how the return on investment of these turn-key, scalable situational awareness technologies help reduce risk, increase safety, enhance operational efficiencies, and build overall wildfire resilience across grid operations and areas of interest with North American electric utility companies.
