Dr. Mordecai has a rich history in executive nursing practice with a strong passion for supporting excellence in Maternal Child Healthcare. In her role as ACNO at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Dr. Mordecai has partnered with physician and ambulatory colleagues to establish a progressive and patient/family-centric model of care. Addressing disparities related to social determinants of health (SCOC) in maternal and child healthcare is a key focus of her work. Through these collaborative efforts, UTMB has achieved Level IV Neonatal and Maternal Designations and Baby Friendly status. Previously, Dr. Mordecai has served in leadership roles at Memorial Hospital for Children in Colorado Springs, The University of Maryland, and OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
Dr. Mordecai holds a Doctorate in Executive Nurse Practice from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston and is certified in both Executive Nurse Practice and Nurse Midwifery. As a Certified Nurse Midwife, she established the first full-scope nurse midwifery service in Pueblo, CO in 1998. Broadcast journalism and communication round out her interests where she has previously served the public through her work in Investigative and Consumer Journalism at KMGH-TV in Denver.
