Name
ADAS Perception Systems – Service and Calibration Challenges
Description

The National Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) is in pursuit of ZERO accidents on roadways and their solution is self-driving vehicles. There is a stair-stepped approach to full, self-drive Level 5 vehicles taking place today. Many of the sensors used to support Level 5 autonomous vehicles have already been deployed on today’s vehicles, providing input to support various sub-systems such as, blind spot monitoring, lane keeping systems, adaptive cruise control and more. Today, a small percentage of service professionals are already interacting with these systems and are ahead of the curve. Manufacturers define service operations around these systems which may be overlooked if the service professional continues to deploy yesterday’s mindset. Scott Brown will present an enriching session that will take the service professional through many of the perception systems being used today and will demonstrate what calibration looks like, why it’s being done, service challenges, diagnostics and how to properly document your processes.
