Patti Gunderson joined PNNL in 2021 and supports several projects on the Technology Integration team in the Building Systems group. A particular strength is collaborating with manufacturers, designers, builders, and the trades to understand and overcome barriers to adoption of optimized building technologies.
Patti spent six years at an independent research testing and certification lab in the Building Science division where she led research projects on constructability, functionality, accessibility, energy efficiency, and durability of buildings.
Prior to that, Patti worked as a mechanical design engineer at an international AE firm, on numerous high-profile projects including embassies, medical centers, university law schools and the flagship Net Zero Brock Environmental Center for the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, which also earned the Living Building Challenge Certification.
Patti has a BA in Music, Literature and Philosophy and a BS in Architectural Engineering - achieved two decades apart, both from the University of Wyoming.
