  • Explain roles each member of a multidisciplinary team (e.g., physician, pharmacist, researcher, community activist) can play in constructing a comprehensive approach to the preventing or reducing Rx drug abuse.
  • Identify how to effectively implement coordinated care strategies in clinical settings and the outcomes that can be achieved.
  • Identify the challenges of and opportunities to address the syndemics of opioid abuse, viral hepatitis, and HIV.
  • Describe the role of naloxone in opioid overdose prevention.
  • Explain how the disease of chronic pain can be treated appropriately outside of narcotic management.
  • Identify strategies to mitigate the adverse effects of chronic pain and opioid analgesics.
  • Explain the new CDC guideline for prescribing opioid pain relievers for chronic pain in primary care settings.
  • Define keys to success when combining medication-assisted therapy and behavioral therapy.
