Description
With rapid changes in the adoption of renewable resources, utilities are working in new and innovative ways to support interconnection requests and to increase the availability of clean energy. One promising pathway looks to software upgrades and communications technologies to optimize use of the existing grid. ComEd’s first demonstration of a Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) has now been live in the field for an entire year. The speaker in this session will present some of the lessons learned; the configuration choices made; the approach to communications, signaling, and controls; and the optimization scheme.
