Executive Director, Life of Purpose Middle Tennessee
As the Executive Director of Life of Purpose Middle Tennessee, Ben’s responsibilities include supervising and managing the staff while working with them to create an environment where the clients and staff are comfortable. He is also involved in advocating for services regarding people in recovery and making an effort to get the community involved in the recovery movement. Ben is committed to motivating and empowering the clients and working with other members of the executive leadership team in order to help as many young adults suffering from substance use disorders as possible.
In 2014, Ben started at Life of Purpose as a behavioral health technician. In this position, he learned how to communicate with clients, allowing him the opportunity to assist them in overcoming their struggles and continuing to push forward. Ben had many opportunities to de-escalate clients in high-stress situations, which prepared him to move forward in his career. After about one year, Ben was promoted to case management, which involved assisting clients with getting back into school, monitoring their grades, obtaining transcripts, and handling legal issues. He loved observing the clients’ demeanors change when they became enrolled in college, because they saw that there was hope for their future. Ben later became an admissions counselor, working closely with the families of the clients in order to inform them about the program and ensure that it was a perfect fit for them. He also facilitated tours with families and professionals in the field. Ben also spent a year as an intern counselor at Life of Purpose. Throughout his time as an intern, Ben would facilitate groups, carry a case load, and complete documentation, gaining experience and knowledge from the rest of the clinical team.
Ben graduated with his Master of Science in Applied Psychology from Lynn University. He received his Bachelor of Science at Middle Tennessee State University.
Ben is originally from Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
