John Henderson is an experienced, value-focused healthcare leader and is currently Vice President and Chief Information & Digital Officer of Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), a leader in pediatric healthcare. John is responsible for the Information Technology organization and serves as the Chair of the Belonging, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council. John is energetic, purpose driven and enthusiastic about serving patients and patient families to help make their care journey an amazing, frictionless experience.
John has played a key role in modernizing the technology and solution delivery for CHOC including critical initiatives such as leading the Digital Front Door and Cloud-based Call Center enablement, selection, and implementation of world class ERP system, establishing and enterprise-wide data and analytics function to drive decision making across the health system and leveraging a cloud first strategy to drive agility and scale to support CHOC’s growth. John has brought a wealth of success leading technology delivery with new facility construction and running broad-based enterprise business, clinical and technology operations. With a history of guiding and building diverse, cohesive teams to enhance and transform IT capabilities to drive business value and outcomes.
As the inaugural Chair of the Belonging, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council, John is putting his passion for bringing people from different backgrounds and experiences together to support our strategy of embedding BDEI into the fabric our organizations processes and culture to better serve our patients, patient families and workforce.
John earned his undergraduate degree from University of Houston-Downtown and an Executive MBA from Texas A&M University. Prior to joining CHOC, John worked at Texas Children’s Hospital and First Data.
