AS Chief Analytics & Information Officer for BCBSMN, Shahid is responsible for leading the transformation of analytics and technology initiatives across the company to ensure successful delivery of health care analytics, informatics support and analysis. Under his direction, the depth and breadth of organizational data will be optimized to give employer customers of Blue Cross fresh insights into the health needs of their employees while further empowering members to make informed decisions about reaching their health goals.
Prior to joining BCBSM, he led Enterprise Analytics for Centene. In that capacity, he was responsible for strategic information and decision support capabilities to ensure Centene’s status as an innovative leader in cost of care analytics, member health improvement, valued based provider arrangement, analytics product design, data governance and medical management. In his role, he assisted Centene in determining the best strategy and path forward for their particular analytics journey.
He started his professional life in healthcare industry as an analyst for Health Partners which is the largest consumer governed health system in the nation, following his bachelor degrees. During his time in Health partners, he developed population health analytics, predictive modeling, provider profiling, financial measures, clinical quality and patient experience measures. He led various projects and cross functional team in order to improve patient care and business efficiencies
Shahid Alam, an innovative and accomplished veteran of health care data, analytics and technology. Shahid is committed on improving cost, quality and experience of patient care. He is a recognized leader with a passion for data, innovation and leadership. As an informatician, his focus has always been to help translate complex analytics into terms that business users can understand and to then help an organization implement the results effectively within their processes. His work has spanned clients in a variety of business functions.
Shahid received bachelors in Computer Information science with distinction and honors from St. Cloud state University. He then pursued Master's in Health Informatics from University of Minnesota. He has extraordinary passion and expertise in data science which led him to receive executive data science certification program from John Hopkins University.
Shahid spent most of his young adulthood in Minnesota. Although he moved to St. Louis in 2013 in order to be part of Centene, he relocating back to MN to join BCBSMN. He and his wife Kamrun resides twin cities with his two young boys Ehan and Aydin.
