Healthcare Informatics and HealthShare Exchange have teamed up to run a hackathon in conjunction with and co-located at the Health IT Summit. Representatives from both organizations will discuss what's happening at the Hackathon next door and how Health IT Summit attendees can get involved later in the day.

Martin Lupinetti, President of HealthShare Exchange discuss how HeatlhShare Exchange provides secure access to health information that enables preventive and cost-effective care; improves quality of patient care; and facilitates care transitions. HealthShare Exchange is the Delaware Valley region's health information exchange (HIE). It links the electronic medical record (EMR) systems of different hospital health systems and other healthcare providers — and the claims data of healthcare insurers — to make this information accessible at inpatient and outpatient points of care (including medical practice offices) and for care management. HSX services provide recent clinical care information, and alert providers and health plans to care events.

T2 Talks feature engaging, passionate speakers whose talks expose new ideas in healthcare that are supported by concrete evidence and are relevant to current and future industry trends. Presentations will explore novel and counterintuitive approaches to solving the many complex problems facing our health system. Join cloud experts from the Nutanix Enterprise Cloud for Healthcare team for an in-depth discussion on how cloud technologies can enable access to healthcare applications (EHR, PACS etc.) from any device, allowing hospitals to save money, increase clinician productivity and improve patient experience.

Trauma. Angina. Heart attacks. No, this isn't just another day in your Emergency Department, it's the newest threat to patient safety - cybercrime. From crippling ransomware attacks that leave computers and EMRs inaccessible, to sophisticated social engineering schemes that drain payroll accounts, healthcare has been devastated by wave after wave of criminal activity. For the first time in history - cybersecurity has become life or death.

But just like healthcare, there's hope. The very same issues that make our hospitals, clinics and networks vulnerable may also be our greatest assets - but only if you know how to respond effectively. Thriving in this digital age of cybercrime doesn't require a brain surgeon, it only requires determination and hard work.

Join GreyCastle Security as we define corrective incident response procedures and the cybersecurity tactics that will save patients' lives in the years to come.

Leading security organizations are driving some of the most compelling change in the infosec landscape. For these leaders, security goes beyond being average. And it goes well beyond being trapped by legacy vendors and architectures. Here we will talk about what near and long-term future looks like and how to make that a signature benchmark for your career in healthcare IT.

People have more autonomy and access than ever before in picking their care providers. This choice is developing as relationships between providers and institutions are starting to change more rapidly and become more complex. For a healthcare system, simply defining who qualifies as a provider can be challenging. Despite internal challenges, creating a method for patients and other potential referring parties to identify the right provider is critical. Providing correct and easily-accessible information about that provider is paramount and expected. This session will explore the type of systems involved in this complex process, and share some of the challenges and successes Jefferson has had in pulling the data together to shield the public from these complexities. This session will include details on the development that was done by Jefferson internally to create our consumer-focused solution, and what is next in out development process.

  • Identify the key components and aspects of provider directories and how they integrate to other systems
  • Employ technology to share provider information to consumers in whatever medium and channel the consumer prefers
  • Appraise the existing state of provider directory management at your organization and identify inconsistencies and process challenges in existing methodology

Rapid improvements in communications technology have provided health benefits for patients and doctors alike, from tracking medications more accurately to providing cutting-edge treatment options to offering advanced health monitoring and data analytics solutions that help clinicians do their jobs better. Despite these innovations in communication and care coordination. Join our panelists as they discuss:
  • how to analyze the communication workflow between clinicians and supporting staff and discover opportunities for improvement
  • how new technologies help decrease the cost of healthcare through improved communications
  • how new technologies are preventing alert fatigue by providing accurate, actionable and concise information to care teams, when they need it most

Healthcare organizations are flooded with data, and with the increasing usage of monitoring and health devices, the flood isn’t slowing down anytime soon.  In order to improve the performance of healthcare organizations with goal of providing better care at a lower cost, we need to take advantage of the latest that the world of technology has to offer, but we also need to ensure that the solutions are clinically relevant.

Digital transformation is a reality for every organization, and healthcare is on the forefront of this change. Legacy security approaches have not kept up with new technologies, which increases overall risk to the business. The result is a Cyber Exposure gap, which is the growing distance between what existing tools provide and what security teams need. Join us to learn how to confidently answer 3 critical questions:
  • How secure are we?
  • How exposed are we?
  • How do we proactively reduce our exposure?
