Returning for the 14th consecutive year, the Healthcare Innovation Summit + Cybersecurity Forum Series is the only regional event series dedicated to the open discussion of the latest trends, challenges, strategies and opportunities facing healthcare executives. Each event is designed for an intimate group of executives to come together from a particular region to hear from national and local healthcare executives. Each program includes plenty of networking and educational sessions. Located within the Healthcare Innovation Summit is the Cybersecurity Forum, a dedicated track session on Day 1 devoted to all things cybersecurity in healthcare.

New In 2022:

  • Ask the Experts: 92% of all Healthcare Innovation Summit + Cybersecurity Forum attendees come to an event with at least 1 (if not multiple) challenges at their organization. Have a voice at the 2022 events and participate in this interactive session designed around your top challenges and getting you the answers you need
  • Power Hour Workshops: Day 1 will conclude with an energetic and insightful networking session. Participate in 4 dedicated focus groups on topics that come straight from the Healthcare Innovation Editorial Team.

Breaches happen and 2021 was a record-breaking year for them. According to Identity Theft Resource Center (ITRC) research, there were 1,291 breaches publicly reported in 2021 as of Sept. 2021 compared to 1,108 breaches in 2020;that’s a 17% year-over-year increase. Meanwhile, millions are spent on security operations centers that aren’t stopping the breaches from happening. Join us for a discussion on:

  • Why SOC and security teams are way too limited by legacy SIEM
  • How machine learning-driven analytics and automation technologies provide unmatched threat detection, investigation, and response (TDIR) capabilities so security teams can respond more quickly and accurately to seize the breach and mitigate damage.
  • A simple maturity model based on outcomes and use cases that can vastly improved Security Operations

At a time when cyber threats against patient care organizations are intensifying, where should healthcare IT security leaders place their bets—and their resources—when it comes to investing in protective technologies and strategies? In this panel, respected cybersecurity leaders will help audience members sort through the noise and the hype

As the organized cybercrime ecosystem continues to evolve, the combination of motive, means, and opportunity—plus easy access to already-developed tools to execute attacks—has led cybercriminals to relentlessly target HDOs. This has resulted in an ever-increasing volume of attacks and a range of costly consequences, including the disruption of critical patient care.
In the event of a security breach, you need an Incident Response (IR) partner that can react with industry-leading speed and efficacy. Without the support of 24/7 data backups and a team of IR experts, healthcare institutions are likely to pay the extortion or ransomware demands to avoid massive operational disruption.
Join eSentire’s John Irvine, VP, Digital Forensics for a discussion on the most common attack vectors for healthcare, the importance of adopting a risk-based approach towards cybersecurity, and how eSentire brings rapid control and stability to your organization when a breach occurs.

Sarah Cho, Vice President of Population Health Management at Integrated Health Partners, a Los Angeles-based clinically integrated network of federally qualified health centers (FQHCs), will share with attendees about the advances that she and her colleagues are making in evolving forward their data analytics to support population health management. Cho will explain how she and her team, at the same time that they build a strong architecture for advanced analytics to support population health, are also continually educating clinicians and staffers in the network’s FQHCs, in order to encourage acceptance of and engagement in, that analytics work, which is so vital to optimizing population health for the vulnerable populations whom they serve.

Health Systems continue to be exposed to ransomware attacks during the global pandemic with increased impact to patient care and exposure to large global integrated health delivery systems.  Patients have recognized significant patient care impacts such as rescheduled surgeries, increased patient wait times, delayed COVID-19 test results, and challenges filling prescription medications.  This presentation will provide healthcare executives a guide to understanding how their organization is positioned to protect against emerging ransomware threats.
Learning Objectives

  • Provide thought leadership to current cyber security events
  • Share industry experience and how they have impacted health systems.
  • Educate leaders on what core security program elements should be foundationally in place.

The current path of the U.S. healthcare system, with its accelerating costs and unpredictable quality outcomes, is unsustainable. In Arizona, the leaders at the Phoenix-based Banner Health and Aetna came together several years ago in order to create a jointly owned and managed company whose mission is to provide access to high-quality medical care that improves patient outcomes while lowering the overall cost of that care. Banner Aetna CEO Tom Grote will sit down with Healthcare Innovation Editor-in-Chief Mark Hagland to share with the audience the range of advances taking place at Banner|Aetna, advances that are helping show the way towards healthcare’s future.

At a time of extreme pressure and stress for practicing physicians, one of the key areas of focus around the topic of EHR optimization has become the overall effort to avert physician burnout. Among the issues involved:

  • First of all, what is physician burnout, in the context of EHR use? What do we know about its causes, and sources of relief?
  • What are the key areas in which EHRs can be optimized in the physician workflow, but which still require ongoing effort and strategy?
  • What are the leading-edge organizations doing in this area?
  • What are the biggest challenges to EHR optimization to improve workflow and ease physician burnout?
  • What are the biggest lessons learned so far in this area?
  • What does this journey into EHR optimization look like, healthcare system-wide, in the next few years?
